Guitar Pickups? Metal setup?

30th December 2009

I want to know what would be a good setup for a lead death metal guitar type setup. I can mix and match the neck and bridge pickups between all of these:
-EMG 81’s
-EMG 85’s
-Duncan Dime Bucker
-Duncan invader
-Duncan LIVEWIRE metal pickup

Keep in mind that single coil & humbucking pickups usually have a great difference in volume. In other words, if you mix them and switch in mid-song you’ll get a noticible boost or drop in volume. You didn’t mention what kind of guitar these were going in but let me say, you CAN’T go wrong with Duncan’s pickups. EMGs are prone to some problems that you may find you don’t want to live with.
