    from about the 7th 0r 8th fret onwards, mainly on the low E string but also a little on the A and D string , I get really bad string buzz and when playing with distortion the notes just sort of dissapear . so what should i do ?

    Definatly loosen the strings and “slacken” them that way the chance f you breaking your truss rod is very low

    adjust your bridge saddle if its only one string, but
    if you just wante dto know the way to turn it so the string gets higher, loosen the truss rod, but like i said just adjust the bridge
