The best thing to learn is as many songs as you can.

I am learning guitar tabs and would like to learn I walk the line by Johnny Cash. Problem is my only internet source is through my Blackberry phone and I’ve found and hand wrote several tab variations but they are not true. Can someone tell me a good trustworthy site or tell me how it goes.

So far I have the "By Your Side" by Tenth Avenue North and "From The Inside Out". Are there any other good Christian songs with a noticeable tabbing part, such as in the intro? I am learning to play guitar, but it is hard to get better at tab when I have none to practice on! Any suggestions?

I don’t know, it depends on what kind of gospel music you like.

Hi. I want to learn guitar. Problem is every time I look at guitar tabs I get confused and don’t know what to do. I want to learn guitar before I try on another instrument and I was wondering what books would help me. Thanks I really appreciate it.

Sure, Guitar For Dummies would help you out. But nothing beats just sitting down with a guitar player for an hour and having him or her teach you some chords. You could pay for a lesson or two – or just sit down with a friend. Once you’ve done that a couple times, you’ll find it a lot easier to understand what those guitar tabs are trying to tell you to do.

I can play chords.. but tabs are confusing! I dont understand how to read the charts. Like why is there random numbers on the bars? :I its fustrating cause I would like to learn tabs to songs.
i get that the bars are the notes, and the numbers mean the fret number, but i dont know what i’m playing! like do i play chords on that fret?

When you look at tablature, there are six lines, which represent each of the strings on the guitar. the first line of the six represents the high e string and the line at the bottom represents the low E string. They go in order that way. The numbers on the line tell you what fret to go to.. For example, if there is a number 4 on the first line, then the note would be on the fourth fret of the high e string.

I started play guitar a week ago, And i know the D A G and E guitar chords do you know any songs that use them chords and are pretty easy?

And i also want to know of any easy guitar tabs, Because i want to learn guitar chord songs and guitar tabs.

Plus have you got any tips for the D chord i stuff that one up abit sometimes thanks.

I’ve just started to learn guitar and I can play some chords and songs but how do you read a tab? I do not understand any of the exes and dots and 8s and 2s and it just does not make any sense to me. Help? :L

It actually makes more sense than you think.. .It is tough to read it at first. Hell, Ive been playing for 20+ years, and solos still confuse me…

If a chord reads (up to down) XX0232 that is a D chord. You dont play the first 2 strings, open 3rd string, second fret on the 4th, 3rd on the 5th, and 2nd on the bottom.

The number indicates what fret you need to be on.

The X means not to play that string

Read the notation on the tab.

Best thing to do is learn chords, and play songs out of a fake book, which will tell you which chord you need to be in. You can figure out the other stuff by ear, or later with tab.

I have been really blessed with a good ear, so most of what I play is from ear, but I now know most of the chords, and can improvise when need be. There are some songs Ive been playing wrong for years, but what I play is close, so its not too bad…
