Is it necessary to make guitar playing easier or it just improves the sound?
A guitar set up will give you optimum playability. Height of action (distance from strings to fingerboard) Bridge in correct place. Nut correctly set. Pickups adjusted for best tone . Correct amount of bow in the neck to eliminate any fret buzz or string rattle. Frets at correct height. and so on.
Hope this helps

I just got a guitar yesterday and i was wanting to find a good book to help me learn to play
PluckandPlayGuitar has free video based lessons for absolute beginners and assume you know nothing or close to nothing.
It takes you step by step through the basic guitar chords one by one. There’s also lessons on guitar scales, techniques and some easy songs to play.

I started learning how to play guitar a little ago and now am trying to find some good free sites to learn some chords. Has anyone learned some chords from any good sites? Like you go into that site and it has groups of chords, like a group of minors and so on.

well me and my friends are playing guitar hero world tour with the wii and we have two controllers for it and we got the guitar and drums working but no mic and we wanna play with it but we got two controllers soo we dont know how to set it up and stuff so can you help ?
To use the guitar,drums and mic at the same time you need 3 wii motes. I was not aware of this till go nintendo had an article on this yesterday. From what I have read plug the mic into the back of the wii and then use a free wii mote to navigate the screen when using the mic.
Hope it helps

How effective is it to learn guitar from iPhone apps as opposed to the real guitar. I wanna do this because I just wanna learn the basics of guitar first and I dont want to waste money buying the real guitar. I just want to learn basics and if my will and determination will uphold me. If I can learn basics Ill buy the real thing.
A real guitar is very different from any sort of virtual simulation. You might learn some theory, but you won’t learn much (if anything at all) about actually playing.

I’ve been playing guitar for about 3 months and I want to make a comprehensive schedule for practicing guitar. Like how long should I spend practing scales, chords, songs, etc.
It all depends on how long you have to play.
I say,
15% warmups with chromatics
20% working with scales, utilizing different techniques
10% chords
10% arpeggios
10% learning theory
35% practicing or learning a song or spent writing your own material.

I don’t know the exact names of the pickups, but my friend Alex uses two clear-sounding pickups and one distort/fuzz pickup so he can play cleanly and distorted and they sound great, is there a better setup than this?
Pickups don’t distort in and of themselves – some just tend to sound better distorted than others, I suppose. I think you may be talking about single-coil pickups? It’s kinda hard to say from the information you’re giving.
The most popular pickup combination in the world is the Seymour Duncan ‘59 in the neck and JB in the bridge. These are humbuckers. They are overall rather trebly, and the JB has a decent combination of higher output and overall clarity that tends to be pretty versatile.
I think my current setup is pretty versatile, but it doesn’t favor metal as well as others… that would be the Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro in the neck and Alternative 8 in the bridge. Slash uses Alnico II Pro’s in his guitar, and gets a lot of his distinctive sound from them. The Alt 8 is a good complimentary pickup for it – both are a little more warm and round with a bit of chime/sparkle on the top. The Alt 8 is based on the JB, but has a tighter low end, so is better for rhythm, and less treble, so you don’t have that "ice-pick in the brain" syndrome.
I dunno, I don’t really want to go much farther and confuse you or point you down the wrong direction. Even with single-coils there are a lot of different options, so I don’t want to have an answer that just throws the kitchen sink at you, because that would be a long answer that would probably just confuse you more….

I have an electric guitar and a M-audio fast track interface. When I plug my guitar into the interface and plug the interface into the computer i can hear my guitar through headphones. The problem is when I open acid and try to record the program doesn’t seem to recognize my interface. It used to only record my guitar through one speaker and now it doesn’t pick up the sound at all. What should I do?

Okay I picked out this really cheap guitar setup, it will work.
I just want to know if this is enough so when I get it I wont be missing anything THAT important.
Heres the list:
Guitar = http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Dean-Vendetta-XM-Electric-Guitar?sku=512150
Amp = http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fender-Mini-Deluxe-Amp?sku=480704
I have picks at my house and thats all I think I need to atleast play. And I’m pretty sure the amp comes with a plug for the guitar. If im wrong please tell me!
No cord from the amp to the guitar you will need to buy that seperate. You’re just getting started you don’t need a $5000 setup. as long as it plays who cares?
