How do you set up a guitar rack?

30th January

I’ve seen all these backstage racks that guitarists use, and I have no idea how they work. I don’t understand how they’re hooked up and how they affect the sound of a normal amplifier.

Those racks are preamps and digital effects(delays, reverb, overdrive, chorus, phaser, etc) and doesn’t affect the sound off the amp but the sound of the guitar. The effects are preset before the show start and the guitarist can select them using a pedal connected to them by wires.

wtf? guitar setup? guitar center messed it up more>?

30th January

okay couple days ago. i got a guitar setup becus i been having massive fretbuzzes so i took it to guitar center and payed 60 dollars for it.
They fixed the fretbuzz problem but now i am having playing note problem? like i cant play high notes on high strings.

what has happen?
will they fix it for me again?

What do you mean by ‘cant play high notes on high strings’? They don’t make the right notes, they don’t make any sound, what?

Take it back to Guitar Center, make them fix it, then learn your lesson and never take a guitar there to be fixed again. Find a GOOD repairman.

How long did it take you to learn to play guitar?

30th January

I Got a rad accoustic electric guitar today from my grandpa as a hanukah gift. im confused by the chord chart im wicked blonde. i was curious of how long it took others to learn guitar so i can get an estimate fer how long itll take me.
Fun poll: whats your favorite song to play 0.o

Anyone can play guitar when they first pick it up, though you might not be able to play it well. Every guitar player learns to play more every day, it just depends how devoted you are to get to a level you consider good. I wake up at 5 or 6 every day and practice for usually about 5 hours, just because I always see room for improvement. Every day I find a new technique or a new riff or something. Its not like you learn how to play and then you’re just at that level forever. If you wanna be Johnny Ramone, learn the power chord and hit it really fast lol. If you wanna be Steve Vai, play for about a year and see what happens. Anyone who says its hard thinks they’re more important than they really are.

Sorry. You can’t Guitar Hero and Rock Band are different companies. Guitar Hero is a big fat meanie and said "These guitars will not work for Rock Band because they will sell more than us."

Better to learn guitar by myself or from lessons? How to teach myself?

28th January

Hello, I had been wanting to learn guitar for the absolute longest time now and will have a lot of free time coming up this second semester of my senior year in high school. Was wondering if it will be better to learn guitar by myself or from lessons.
I used to be in orchestra playing the violin until my junior year of high school so I guess you could say I have some music background.

Also, at the age of 18, is it a little late to learn guitar or no?

Thank you all!

It’s best to take a few lessons to get you started on the right track, and make sure you are playing the right way. You can then learn a lot on your own through youtube.com, and other various sites.

It’s not late at all to learn. You can learn an instrument at any age. I started at 14. By the time your 25, nobody will know that you started at 18… assuming you dedicate yourself to playing every day.
